Brighton’s Christmas lights will come on next week as part of a city center event to welcome the holiday season.

Local choirs will perform traditional and contemporary classics throughout The Lanes, North Laine and Western Road, while Santa’s elves will visit companies spreading joy as part of the celebrations.

The Brighton and Hove Buses Santa Bus will also make an appearance with Santa himself along Western Road, North Street and Preston Street during a festive cheer afternoon.

The event, organized by Brilliant Brighton, a non-profit group of 517 city center businesses, will culminate with the lighting up of the city’s Christmas lights, adding a magical backdrop to the festive event.

Street art-inspired lights, designed by Brighton artists, will illuminate North Street and Western Road, while lights celebrating North Laine’s uniqueness will add sparkle to Bond Street, Gardner Street and Kensington Gardens.

Traditional lights will also lend a magical and festive atmosphere to The Lanes, East Street, Preston Street and the City Clock Tower.

The events, which will take place from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm on November 19th, will also mark the launch of the Brilliant Brighton window dressing contest, with company windows decorated with the ‘festive fabulous’ theme.

People will be able to vote in their preferred window between 19 November and 31 December, with the most voted company winning £ 150. Another winner, chosen by a random voter, will also receive a cash prize.

Shelley Welti, Head of Marketing and Events at Brilliant Brighton, said: “We are very excited to make shoppers and those who go out for meals, coffees and drinks feel festive with a wonderful afternoon celebrating the start of the season.

“From the beautiful voices of our local choirs filling the streets, to the launch of our captivating window dressing competition, the elves popping up around the city center, the Brighton and Hove buses adding further joy with their wonderful Santa Bus and of course, The bright Brighton Christmas lights that add extra sparkle to the process, we really hope it will be a nice way to start the celebrations. “

Brilliant Brighton previously told The Argus that it had no plans to hold an event organized for this year’s ignition, opting for “smaller, more discreet events” throughout the city center to “welcome the holiday season. “.
